TODAY COLOMBIA – Venezuelan foreign minister, Delcy Rodriguez insisted on the need of dialogue between President, Nicolas Maduro and his peer from Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, in order to solve the problems affecting today the common bordering area.
From his Twitter account, the Venezuelan chief of diplomacy reiterated the readiness of her government for the border dialogue, where tensions were generated after the closure of passage ordered by Caracas with the view to fight drug trafficking and paramilitarism.
The measure was implemented in 10 municipalities in the southwestern state of Tachira, where was also declared the Constitutional state of Emergency.
Rodriguez reiterated that they will insist on the treatment at the highest bi-national level of issues such as crimes at the border and displaced towards Venezuela due to the Colombian internal conflict.
She stressed that they will bring the debate up to mechanisms in the world and the region.
As she explained the Bolivarian government will ask those institutions for compensation of Colombian victims of displacement and that of the Venezuelan state, which received massive exodus.
In addition, the Foreign minister showed her disagreement with recent statements of her Colombian counterpart, Maria Angela Holguin, who stated that Bogota can do little to prevent smuggling from Venezuela because of subsidy policies implemented by the Bolivarian Government.
According to Rodriguez, is unusual to use Venezuelan regulations implemented for the benefit of people as excuse to avoid Colombian responsibility in the fight against illegal trafficking of products.
Rodriguez also warned of the revival of a communication device in the neighboring nation to undermine stability and peace.
