The FARC are tired of war: Langlois

Recently released French journalist Romeo Langlois carried a letter from left wing rebels to the president of France, which said the guerrillas were “tired,” of war.

According to local media, Thursday morning, Langlois said he carried a letter from Colombia’s largest guerrilla group, the FARC, intended for French President Francois Hollande.

Upon his arrival to an Air Force base in Bogota Langois said, “Their message, which they always repeat, is that they want peace and that they want a negotiated solution that they are ready to take chance for this.”

The French reporter was released Wednesday after having been in FARC captivity since April 28.

Upon his release, a spokesperson for the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Cathrine Ashton said, “The High Representative welcomes the liberation of the French journalist Romeo Langlois by the FARC. She hopes that this positive development can mark the definitive end of the practice of kidnapping pledged by the FARC. The High Representative reiterates her call for all the hostages still held captive to be freed immediately and without conditions”.

Speaking on the future of the conflict Langlois said, “I know the FARC want peace, they are tired of war. They could achieve peace or they could continue fighting for another 40 years.”
