(UPI) — Colombian soldiers killed 10 guerrillas and injured two others in an operation in northeast Colombia, authorities said.
The joint operation by the army, navy and air force was carried out in the municipality of Tame, in the department of Arauca, Colombia Reports said.
An army press release issued Sunday said the guerrillas killed and injured belonged to the ELN’s Domingo Lain Saenz front.
Army forces also seized arms, explosives and army outfits during the operation.
Colombia Reports said that the Domingo Lain Saenz is one of the ELN’s active units in Arauca, which has become a hotbed for guerrilla activity, including ongoing attacks on the oil and mining industry in the area.
