Panamanian President Supports Colombian Peace Process

Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli expressed his country’s full support to Colombian peace talks between the government and the guerrillas, whose second phase is about to start, on October 8, with the creation of a dialogue table in Oslo, Norway.

In statements to Caracol Radio, Martinelli highlighted how much could bring reconciliation and social development of the country, if negotiations are successful.

He added that the Colombian government, the Colombian people, all sides and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-EP must sit at the table and talk and think that if this process comes off, if all wounds heal, Colombia could be one of the great powers of Latin America and the world.

Negotiations between the parties, he said, must reach a point of agreement as soon as possible, and he offered his government’s good will in order to contribute to this endeavor.
