The heavy rains that fell in Nariño, Colombia, left more than 2,000 victims and destroyed some 570 houses, said Governor Raul Delgado since Magüí river flooded downtown Magüi Payan Municipality.
Fortunately, said Delgado, there were neither deaths nor severely wounded, but regretted the destruction of houses and agriculture.
Local government Secretary Francisco Batalla said the rains did cause mudslide at the cemetery and some graves were washed near the neighborhoods, forcing to request logistics to clean up the disaster.
Official statistics number in 50 the current rain season fatalities and matching rates of wounded, 172,126 victims in 504 municipalities at 28 of Colombia’s 32 Departments.
