TODAY COLOMBIA NEWS – Air travel in Colombia is suffering disruptions that includes temporary closure of some airports, resulting from heavy rainfall across the country.

Colombia’s civil aviation reported Tuesday that both domestic and international flights were affected.

While some flights only suffered delays, others were grounded due to the effects of the La Niña weather phenomenon.

Airports in Armenia, Manizales, Ibague, Mariquita, Pasto, Pereira and Valledupar experienced probelms in landing and take off, while airports in Barrancabermeja, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cartagena and Popayan reported “restricted operations”.

La Niña is expected to cause increase in rainfall in the last months of the year.

For travel to and from Colombia and within the country, best to check with your airline for the current status of your flight.
