TODAY COLOMBIA – The Colombian anti-drug police reported today that so far this year, 4.3 tons of cocaine have been detected and seized in the Caribbean Sea, including the stash seized Monday to a Panama-flagged ship called Taboga Island.
The Panama-flagged ship was captured off the coast of the northern department of La Guajira and, according to information provided by General Ricardo Restrepo, commander of the Eight Regional Police Department, the load a ton of heroin was heading to Curacao.
In a combined operation by a special corp of the police and the National Navy of Colombia, the three occupants of the ship were arrested and sent to the disposition of the competent authorities.
Restrepo said with this new occupation, drug traffickers operating in La Guajira receive a hard blow.

General Restrepo said the amount of cocaine they have up to now occupied, would have been enough to prepare about 3.3 million doses for illegal retail, which in the underworld market, reaches a value of approximately US$27 million dollars.
