DR and Colombia Talk about Drug Fighting

Military chiefs and officials from the Dominican Republic and Colombia talked in this capital on Saturday about their respective works and bilateral collaboration in the struggle against drug trafficking.

The Colombian delegation, headed by Major General Javier Fernandez, chief of Intelligence and Counter Intelligence of the Armed Forces of Colombia, visited the headquarters of the National Direction of Drug Control.

The Colombian officials were briefed on the work carried out by both countries, which are affected by drug trafficking, mainly between Europe and the United States, the world’s largest drug consumer.

Fernandez said Colombia has reduced coca crops over the past few years and have hit drug traffickers, mainly in the Caribbean part of the country.

“These results are due to the collaboration of Colombia with the Dominican Republic, which have implemented these programs for years,” he stated.
