More Colombians are questioning the legitimacy of FARC’s intentions in the peace process, according to a survey conducted by Datexco.

A survey conducted by Datexco for Colombian newspaper El Tiempo and radio station La W in July showed that 61% of the respondents did not believe in the FARC’s desire for peace.

The number of skeptics has increased from 37% in June, after a recent spate of violent attacks by the FARC.

On July 28, an attack on the energy infrastructure of the Pacific port city of Buenaventura in the Valle de Cauca state left half a million people without power for several days.

President Juan Manuel Santos declared last Tuesday that the FARC was digging its own grave with the attacks on Colombian infrastructure, and the head of state added that it could jeopardize the peace process.

The following day a 2-year-old child was killed, and 3 other family members injured when an alleged FARC attack occurred in the southwestern state of Cauca. While the attack was reportedly against state forces, improvised mortars hit a nearby farmhouse where a family was living.

Dissatisfaction with Santos’s handling of the negotiations in Havana rose from 46% in June, to 50% in July, according to the Datexco poll.

Despite criticism the Colombian government remains committed to the peace talks, El Tiempo reported. The next point in the Havana negotiations will deal with the victims of Colombia’s armed conflict.
