TODAY COLOMBIA (Prensa Latina)- Colombian social and political organizations called on a peace demonstration tomorrow, to support the resumption of peace talks between the government and FARC-EP taking place in Havana, promoters said today.
They are also in favor of the bilateral cessation of hostilities between the parts and the beginning of talks with the National Liberation Army, in order to guarantee a scenario of goodwill and reconciliation.
The demonstration will be preceded by a forum aimed at projecting joint actions about peace-building initiatives in Colombia, organizers said.
In addition, about 50 radio stations across the country will broadcast simultaneously programs to reflect on the challenges of the society to support the peace talks that started two years ago.
The fifty-year-old conflict in Colombia has left more than six million victims and 230 thousand people dead.
The negotiations will resume tomorrow after an impasse caused by the abduction of General Ruben Dario Alzate by the FARC-EP.
