Colombian Guerrilla Backs Palestinian People

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP) expressed today in this capital their solidarity with the Palestinian people, shortly before beginning their ninth day of peace talks with the Colombian government. Guerrilla Tanja  or Alexandra read a release through which the organization condemns Israel’s recent hostile acts against the people of that nation.

The secretariat of the FARC-EP’s General Staff greets this combative people, its leaders and the social and political organizations of Palestine, the text states. The Palestinian struggle is the struggle of all peoples of the world for their release, sovereignty, and independence, it adds.

The FARC-EP sends the Palestinian people its solidarity, from thousands of guerrilla fighters who thousands of miles away fight a common enemy, imperialism, the text says.

The talks between the Colombian guerrilla fighters and the government continue today at the Havana’s Conference Center, seeking a peaceful solution to the long armed, political and social conflict that dates from more than 50 years ago.

Sources close to the Government said the head of the government delegation, Humberto de la Calle, will provide statements at 13:30 local time (18:30 GMT) at Havana’s Conference Center.
