TODAY COLOMBIA – The mansion of drug capo Pablo Escobar, former chief of the Medellin cartel, was demolished to prevent the collapse of its deteriorated structure, inside the theme park Hacienda Napoles, confirmed today Colombian experts.
The building located in the department of Antioquia, was dismantled to prevent a possible tragedy in the premises, visited by national and froreign visitors, said Radio Caracol RCN.
Symbol of the drugtraffic business, the house will not be reconstructed, assured the manager of the touristic site, Oscar Orozco.
Rundown by the effect of time and abandonment, the most cherished property of Escobar fell, after being permanently sustained by trusses.
The once opulent ranch, seen as an emblem of crime, attracted dozens of politicians, narco chiefs and personalities, said digital portal of El Espectador newspaper.
Born in Antioquia, Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria (1940-1993) became the most powerful man of the Colombian mob and one of the richest men of his time.
He financed an extensive network of hitmen and authorities link him to the murder of thousands of persons at the end of last century.
Built by the narco dealer, the Napoles Hacienda treasures curious species of animals in their natural hábitat.
Another of its attractions is the simulation of a Jurassic park, besides a colisseum and a landing strip for planes.
