Colombian Defense Minister Begins Touring the Country

The Minister of Defense of Colombia, Juan Carlos Pinzon, began today a tour accompanied by senior military and police to discuss security needs in 21 of the 32 departments.

During the tour, which began in Quibdo, the capital of Choco (Colombian Pacific) he will meet with local and departmental authorities, will dialogue with citizens, business groups, opinion leaders and other sectors of society, and will define actions with the military and national police.

Defense Ministry sources also reported they will also exchange with the so-called “new joint task forces” to review the results of the Sword of Honor Plan, launched earlier this year as part of a crackdown on illegal armed groups and the guerrillas.
