Colombia will apply third dose of covid-19 vaccine to population over 50 years old starting today

QCOLOMBIA – Colombian Health authorities will begin this Friday the application of the booster dose against covid-19 in the population over 50 years of age.

It is a measure adopted to contain the increase in cases of the coronavirus in the most vulnerable population groups, President Iván Duque, highlighted on Thursday.

Currently, 52 million vaccines have been applied in Colombia and the expectation is to close the year with 70% of the population with the complete scheme.

Immunization of the population with the booster will be carried out gradually, according to the availability of vaccines.

It began with the age group older than 70 and earlier this month it was expanded to those older than 60.

Colombia registered 2,257 infections this Thursday, 1,938 recovered and 47 deaths from the disease.

The total accumulated infections is 5,038,544cases of which 4,879,456 have recovered, and 127,912 deaths.
