Colombia Stocks Climb, Led by Bancolombia; Peso Weakens

bancolombia2Colombian stocks rose Wednesday, led by gains in Bancolombia (CIB), the country’s largest bank in terms of deposits.

The Colcap index, a benchmark for the Colombian Stock Exchange, gained 0.62% to end at 1,747.11 points.

Shares of Medellin-based Bancolombia, which trades in New York as well as Bogota, rose 0.8% to COP27,340.

Colombia’s peso ended weaker at COP1,890.10 for a dollar, from COP1,882.35 in the previous trading session. It has weakened each day this week.
