Colombia sends note of protest to Venezuela over border trespass

TODAY COLOMBIA (El Universal) — The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note of protest to Venezuela upon the irregular entry of five officers of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) last weekend into the Colombian territory. However, no response from the Venezuelan authorities has been received yet.

The note, signed by Colombian Foreign Minister María Ángela Holguín, was delivered through the Colombian Embassy in Caracas, Colombian radio news station Caracol Radio informed.

According to official sources, the Venezuelan officers entered the Norte de Santander Department inadvertently while engaged in operations at the Venezuelan municipality of Ureña, Táchira state.

According to the information, Colombia awaits a diplomatic response from the Venezuelan government that may lead to actions to stop alleged entries into the foreign territory, which have been reported in other areas as well, included the Arauca Department.
