Colombia Hosts International Meeting for Peace

colombia_paz_banderasGuests from Latin America, Europe and Africa will attend a meeting for peace today in Bogota, in which they will support talks between the government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People”s Army (FARC-EP).

Figures such as Spanish Santiago Alba Rico and Belgian Francois Houtart, who will chair a panel on the geopolitics of the war, resistence, and building of peace in the world, will attend the event, organized by the People’s Congress.

Also including are representatives of movements and political organizations such as Honduran Gloria Oqueli, of the Central American Parliament, and Judy Seidmn, of the Khulumani Support Group in South Africa.

The meeting for peace will succeed a congress to which more than 20,000 people are expected to attend, to build a social agenda that allows a peaceful solution to the armed conflict in the country.
