TODAY COLOMBIA – Colombian MD2 pineapple producers are negotiating with South Korea, Israel and the European Union in order to start exporting the product in 2015.

Bengala Agrícola S.A.S. is a Colombian agricultural producer and exporter based in Cali, Valle del Cauca; one of the main drivers of economic development in Colombia.
According to Mauricio Lopez, representative of the company, pineapple is a crop that is perfectly suited to the Colombian tropical climate and is benefited by the abundance of water resources. “In the Valle del Cauca, we carried out agronomic planning which allows us to keep production levels steady throughout the year and provide continuity of supply to our customers,” Lopez said.
In addition to this factor, which will allow Colombia to have a presence on the market at times when large producers are reducing their supply, the weaker rainfall in the country is another distinct advantage as it makes possible to reduce the volume of applications of agrochemicals 40 -50% said Lopez.
