Colombia goes for Olympic gold in the triple jump

Colombia’s Catherine Ibarguen will compete in the final of the women’s triple jump in London’s Olympic Stadium, Sunday.

Ibarquen qualified for the final with jumps of 14.28 meters and 14.42 meters. Her first jump was the best of any Latin American in the qualifying round.

“I feel well, in good form; the final will be tough and I will need more than 15 meters; I hope I will be able to win a medal”, said the Colombian. “I felt comfortable and now I should only think of the final”, she added.

Ibarguen has been a rising star in the triple jump circuit. She won a bronze medal at the 2011 Athletics World Championships in South Korea. Her personal best for 2012 has been 14.95 meters.
