“Twenty-five percent of the U.S. Fortune 1000 currently outsource to Latin America,” stated Esteban Reyes, VSI’s CEO, “and independent studies consistently rate Colombia as having the best talent, cost structure and infrastructure in the region.” VSI’s paper discusses the reasons why large US companies are rapidly moving into Colombia, as well as key considerations for setting up an outsourcing operation in the country.

Colombia provides a compelling environment for companies looking to outsource software and business services. With a population in excess of 45 million, it is the third largest country in Latin America. Colombia also has the third largest number of accredited universities and technical academies. Colombians speak a neutral Spanish that is precise and easy to understand. English language fluency is very common. According to the World Bank, Colombia outranks India, China, Philippines, Brazil, Argentina and Chile for ease of doing business. The country also ranks highly for investment in infrastructure, regulatory consistency, data security and intellectual property protection.
