(Today Colombia) The Colombia-Venezuela border crossing will be re-opened as of Sunday August 13, said on Thursday Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro after a meeting with his Colombian counterpart Juan Manuel Santos.

In words of Maduro, people would be allowed to cross the border from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm and from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm on the Colombian and Venezuelan sides, respectively.

“We will open the border gradually. This will be a temporary opening, while we make decisions and take accurate and positive steps,” claimed Santos.

Similarly, he explained that the two nations decided to establish a “binational center to fight transnational crime,” in order to “prosecute crimes” lashing Colombia and Venezuela.
