Colombia’s capital Bogota on Thursday revealed a statue of Nobel Prize laureate Gabriel Garcia Marquez in the honor of Colombia’s most famous living writer.

The bronze statue was put inside the city hall and aimed at honoring Marquez work as a journalist in Bogota.

The 5.5ft statue was made by Bogota artist Julia Merizalde.

Marquez, most recognized for his 1967 book “One Hundred Years of Solitude,” worked as a journalist from 1948 to 1955. In the last two years as journalist in Colombia, he wrote for Bogota newspaper El Espectador.
