Bogota Bad Weather Grounds Flights

Heavy rains in Bogota forced the suspension of all ground and air operations Friday night at the El Dorado de Bogotá.

In a letter to its customers, Avianca noted the total shut down and apologized for the inconvenience, saying the emphasis was on restoring all operations and getting people on their flights.

The severe storm around Bogota caused problems for some 290 Avianca flights and 19.000 of the airline’s national and international passengers.

The airline said that operations were returned to normal by 1pm Saturday and that getting passengers to their destinations was a priority.

Flights into Bogota were rerouted to Medellin, Cali and Pereira.
