Medellin commuters experienced chaos on Thursday after the closure of six Metro railway stations in the south of Colombia’s second biggest city, affecting about 80,000 people.
This is the second big disruption to the line, after 3,500 cubic feet of the retaining wall that separates the Medellín River from the railway slipped on 14 January.
Trains were disrupted for a week and now repairs are underway.
Repairs have been estimated at $400,000, reported Colombia’s Semana publication.
Semana also reported that authorities had known for years about the problem, but had not addressed it.
