“The target was Carlos Antonio Lozada. He did not fall on this occasion, but air, land and river efforts will continue,” Amaya told reporters.
Lozada is the leader of the FARC’s Eastern Bloc, replacing Mauricio Jaramillo, one of the terrorist group’s delegates engaged in peace talks with the Colombian government in Havana, Cuba.
An alleged FARC member who was wounded in the bombing was taken into custody.
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, who is running for re-election on May 25, has made ending the 50-year-old conflict a top priority.
