Ford has launched their much awaited 2013 EcoSport compact crossover in Colombia. This model is already a resounding success in Brazil, and Argentina. Colombia is the third South American country to receive this model. Launch is also expected in countries of Chile and Mexico while Indian markets will see this new Ford EcoSport in early 2013. Ford has also scheduled launch of this new compact crossover in China though their partners Changan.
In Colombia, Ford EcoSport is being offered with two petrol engine options. These will include a 1.6 liter engine and a 2.o liter engine while a 1.5 liter TDCI diesel engine is also being offered on the Argentina model and India too will receive a 1.5 liter TDCI diesel engine where it will be in great demand.
The automatic version of EcoSport is also to be launched in India where its expected price tag should be in the Rs.12 lakh category. To take advantage of certain price cuts and lower excise duties, the company will be keeping Indian EcoSport in sub 4 meter category so as to ensure that it falls in small car segments.
Ford EcoSport was seen earlier at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show while the crossover was showcased at the Guangzhou Motor Show during the current month. Sales in China will be effected by 2013 while sales in India will commence at the same time. Ford India is expected to launch the EcoSport in in India with their award winning 1.0L EcoBoost engine.
