COLOMBIA-RAINS-FLOODSIn Colombia, more than 4,500 families were affected by heavy rains that hit the country.  The greatest damage occurred in Chocó department, which is one of the poorest areas of the country.

Because of an underdeveloped road network and lack of emergency evacuation means, rescue services cannot offer the requisite help to all the victims, or assess damages.

Tropical storms and landslides caused by the downpours are a serious problem in Colombia, which has two rainy seasons – from March to June and from September to December.
