Colombians Living Abroad Can Now Save For A Home Loan in Colombia

TODAY COLOMBIA – Colombians residing abroad can now save in the country of residence, for at least year and subsequently apply in Colombia for a home loan, for the purchase a house, pay down an existing mortgage, or build or remodel a home in Colombia.

The credit application does not require a co-signer and applications can be made joing among family members, such as parent-child, spouses, brothers and sisters.

Qualifying for the Voluntary Savings Program Contract (AVC) – Programa de Ahorro Voluntario Contractual – program are a Colombians residing in United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Norway, and Australia.

All that is necessary to apply is to have legal residency in the country they live and have a Colombian identity card, download the application from the FNA website (http://www.fna.gov.co/) and email it in. Once filed and approved, the FNA will make contact for an interview through video chat, and later notify of acceptance in the program.

The National Savings Fund, through partnerships with international financial entities facilitates the transfer of funds from the country of residence and credited in Colombia.

The program has been available for some time to Colombian living in the United States and Mexico, the expansion to more countries reaches out more of the estimated five million Colombian living abroad and who may be considering returning to their home country.
