Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos on Tuesday will receive Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who said his country will evaluate the possibility of selling drones to Colombia.

On Monday, Barak began a visit to Colombia, where he toured the military base of Tolemais, in the center of the country, accompanied by his counterpart, Juan Carlos Pinzón.

In statements to reporters, the Israeli defense minister admitted that Tel Aviv is ready to consider the possibility of selling war equipment to Colombia, even though some, he said, some restrictions or limitations should be overcome first.

We are ready to evaluate these two issues and see how we can move towards those negotiations, he added.

The official also said that his country sees Colombia as one of its best friends and hope it will keep the level of cooperation and will move beyond the area of security.

In turn, Pinzon described the meeting with its Israeli peer as historical because of the opportunity to enhance cooperation in security and defense to a more strategic level.
